The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation has funded a new research programme focused on digital innovation at the DIGSUM affiliated research hub Swedish Center for Digital Innovation (SCDI) at Umeå University. The new research programme – the Wallenberg program in digital innovation – builds on research conducted in close collaboration with industry and the public sector, and will be managed by Jonny Holmström, professor at the department of Informatics.

The programme consists of two-year post doc positions along with research conferences and symposia with industry and the public sector.

– This new programme provides us with an opportunity develop our research and collaboration in digital innovation and digital transformation, and to maintain our position as a leading research actor in Europe. At the same time, it is a key for Swedish industry and public sector to be successful in digital transformation. SCDI’s research excellence – along with RISE Digital Innovation and their competence in applied research – is an importance resource for Swedish industry and public sector in their renewal efforts, says Jonny Holmström.
