This Thursday, you are all welcome to a seminar (co-hosted by the Department of Sociology and CEDAR) concerning the influence of AI on the future of unpaid labour. The speaker is Setsuya Fukuda from the National Institute of Population and Social Security Research, Department of Research Planning and Coordination, Tokyo, Japan.
Setsuya presently works on a project focusing on Domestic AI, and on its potential to transform unpaid work in homes. How can AI free up time that is now locked into carework and housework, and how willing are we to introduce these technologies into our private lives? The project is also aimed at pointing out emerging vulnerabilities associated with outsourcing tasks long carried out within the privacy of our homes to smart technology. Read more about the project.
