On the 4th of April, TAIGA invites you to a talk on “Empowering Learning with AI by Navigating Challenges and Opportunities” held by Thomas Mejtoft, the Department of Applied Physics and Electronics, Umeå University. The talk is a part of TAIGA’s seminar series #frAIday on different perspectives on AI.
Abstract
This talk explores the transformative role of AI in education in providing opportunities for both teachers and students with personalized learning, accessibility, and efficiency. During the presentation the challenges of copyright and legislation in relation to AI and AI generated content will be discussed in relation to education and learning experiences.
Thomas Mejtoft is an Associate Professor of Media Technology at Umeå University, Sweden, appointed Excellent Teacher. He has been a Visiting Associate Professor and visiting scholar at the School of Computer Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore and is frequent as lecturer and visiting scholar at the School of Business and Law at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia. During 2011-2023 he was the director of the five-year integrated Master of Science study program in Interaction Technology and Design. Thomas hold dual MSc degrees in Engineering Physics and Business from Umeå University and a PhD in Media Technology from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. His research and teaching interests include not only media technology, interaction technology, interaction design and students’ learning, but also digitalization, value creation, concurrent sourcing, marketing issues and technological changes connected to the media and the media industry.
